50 Flex developers and an expert from Adobe discussed the latest products launched this year and elaborated on mobile development with AIR/Flex.

New opportunities with Adobe technologies

On November 5, 2011, Altoros assisted in organizing a local Adobe Flash Platform User Group meeting that featured Adobe. The event brought together Piotr Walczyszyn, the Evangelist at Adobe, and about 50 Flex developers from Belarus (Eastern Europe). They actively discussed the latest products launched by Adobe this year and shared their opinions on mobile development using AIR/Flex.

The attendees excitedly anticipated the online report of Piotr devoted to creating native extensions for Adobe AIR. He presented a new opportunity to access the libraries specific for mobile devices and functions that were not available through the standard ActionScript classes. The speaker also elaborated on building native extensions for Android and iOS.

Valery Pesetski, the BAFPUG leader and the Head of the Altoros’s Flex development team, gained the audience’s interest giving a review of the tools designed for automated code formatting, testing, and analysis. Valery provided the examples from his experience that showed how to monitor and control the code quality, while leading several projects simultaneously. Finally, he demonstrated the automated process of assembling an application starting with repository commit to test server installation with notifications delivery about a new version of the application.

The friendly atmosphere encouraged fruitful cooperation in discussing topical issues and the latest trends in Flex development. Everybody showed keen interest in coding for mobile devices and creating games, so the participants promised to gather next time to explore new technologies and approaches in this field. As the main reward, all the speakers were presented with the tickets to Flash GAMM, the conference that will be held in Ukraine (Eastern Europe) soon.
