The call was moderated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ramanujank\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Ram Iyengar<\/a> from the CF Foundation. The CAB meeting was quite brief, so we&#8217;ve incorporated some other ecosystem updates that happened during the month, as well.<\/p>\n<p>The virtual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudfoundry.org\/events\/summit\/cfsummit2021\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">summit<\/a> will be held on July 21\u201322, the schedule has become available recently. With only a few weeks left before then, Ram invited members of the community to <a href=\"http:\/\/events@cloudfoundry.org\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">get in touch<\/a> with the Foundation staff to coordinate any announcements regarding feature releases, new initiatives, etc. There will also be an already traditional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetup.com\/de-DE\/Unconference-CF-Summit\/events\/278133862\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Unconference<\/a> day on July 20 before the summit. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudfoundry.org\/blog\/2021-cff-technical-oversight-committee-election-results\/\">results<\/a> published today, the very first committee will be represented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/eric-malm\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Eric Malm<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/dsboulder\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">David Stevenson<\/a> of VMware, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/loewenstein\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Jan von Loewenstein<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/stephanme\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Stephan Merker<\/a> of SAP, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/leeporte\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Lee Porte<\/a> of GOV.UK PaaS.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Cloud Foundry Community Awards Nominations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudfoundry.org\/blog\/cloud-foundry-community-awards-nominations-is-now-open-until-25-06\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">have been open<\/a> and feature three categories: Committed Contributor, Awesome Advocate, and Inspirational User. It is possible to <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSeHRBeS_FroURr3HhSKvbDw9ravQ4s_uu2UzlfDXSOtfsx4Ig\/closedform\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">nominate<\/a> fellow colleagues until June 25.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the CAB call, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/cloud-foundry-advisory-board-meeting-jan-2021-new-roles-and-cf-for-k8s\/\">cf-for-k8s<\/a> special interest group (SIG) held their first meeting for the month of June. Much of the conversation centered on how to emulate <code style=\"color: black; background-color: #e6e6e6;\">cf push<\/code> on a Kubernetes-native client. <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/bkrannich\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Bernd Krannich<\/a> of SAP moderated the SIG call, read the details below.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Emulating_cf_push\"><\/span>Emulating <code style=\"color: black; background-color: #e6e6e6;\">cf push<\/code><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In a nutshell, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/cloud-foundry-advisory-board-meeting-dec-2020-%D1%81f-for-k8s-using-helm\/\">cf-for-k8s<\/a> combines prominent Cloud Foundry developer APIs with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/tag\/kubernetes\/\">Kubernetes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/using-istio-to-unify-microservices-with-a-service-mesh-on-kubernetes\/\">Istio<\/a>, and other open-source technologies. The project aims to improve the developer experience for organizations running Kubernetes.<\/p>\n<p>During the K8s SIG call, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/kieronbrowne\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Kieron Browne<\/a> of VMware shared his thoughts on how custom resources can be utilized to enable Kubernetes-native clients to experience the <code style=\"color: black; background-color: #e6e6e6;\">cf push<\/code> process.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_62088\" style=\"width: 130px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Kieron-Browne.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62088\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Kieron-Browne-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-62088\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-62088\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><small>Kieron Browne<\/small><\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;If we&#8217;re doing Cloud Foundry on Kubernetes, it&#8217;s a great opportunity to provide operators and developers with a Kubernetes-native way of deploying their apps. It should feel as easy as doing a <code style=\"color: black; background-color: #e6e6e6;\">cf push<\/code>. You should be able to create a custom resource that has the information you would have in your app manifest and anything you pass onto the command line, then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/visuals\/kubernetes-kubectl-cli-cheat-sheet\/\">kubectl<\/a> apply.
