Watch the video!<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conformance-based_Cloud_Foundry_certification\"><\/span>Conformance-based Cloud Foundry certification<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The moderator of the call, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/troy-topnik-662784\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Troy Topnik<\/a> from SUSE proposed conformance-based certification that is adopted from the existing Cloud Foundry Acceptance Tests (<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/cloudfoundry\/cf-acceptance-tests\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">CATS<\/a>). The motivation behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1tI2uY7AXmL7ED-FlJLxpuAVBmRr_I11XMm1u68J-6NE\/edit#heading=h.cr0q11tsvtiz\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">proposal<\/a> is to enable Cloud Foundry distributions to innovate while still being certifiable.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_49930\" style=\"width: 120px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Troy-Topnik.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-49930\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Troy-Topnik-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"110\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-49930\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-49930\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><small>Troy Topnik<\/small><\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As we move away from the traditional virtual machine-based <code style=\"color: black; background-color: #e6e6e6;\">cf-deployment<\/code> release, and we now have two different Kubernetes implementations, the ship-this-code model of the certification process for Cloud Foundry certified distributions is going to be more difficult. We would have to keep adding optional pieces of code in order to guarantee roughly the same user experience. It would be much better to define that user experience by way of something that tests the API like Cloud Foundry Acceptance Tests.&#8221; \u2014Troy Topnik, SUSE<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to Troy, now that there are two parallel projects for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/cloud-foundry-advisory-board-meeting-mar-2020-cf4k8s-demo\/\">Cloud Foundry for Kubernetes<\/a>, it&#8217;s time to look at creating API-driven conformance tests similar to the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/cncf\/k8s-conformance\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Kubernetes Software Conformance Certification<\/a>. This way, certain components of Cloud Foundry could be implemented and still provide the same interface to end users.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal is still in progress, and feedback is welcome.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Runtime_PMC\"><\/span>Runtime PMC<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_11430\" style=\"width: 120px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Eric-Malm.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11430\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Eric-Malm-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-11430\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11430\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><small>Eric Malm<\/small><\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/eric-malm-a3554117\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Eric Malm<\/a> from VMware listed the following updates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 6px;\">The Release Integration team delivered <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/cloudfoundry\/cf-deployment\/releases\/tag\/v14.0.0\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">cf-deployment v14<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/cloudfoundry\/cf-deployment\/releases\/tag\/v15.0.0\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">v15<\/a> to deal with certificate regeneration issues. The team is also working on image and secret management tracks for <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/cloudfoundry\/cf-for-k8s\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Cloud Foundry for Kubernetes<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 6px;\">The KubeCF team released <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/cloudfoundry-incubator\/kubecf\/releases\/tag\/v2.6.0\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">version 2.6<\/a> and are now investigating <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/pivotal\/kpack\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">kpack<\/a> integration.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 6px;\">The CAPI and Services API teams requested comments on the Cloud Controller API v3 and CF CLI v7 commands.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 6px;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/cloud-foundry-advisory-board-meeting-apr-2019-eirini-readiness\/\">Eirini<\/a> team is progressing on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/cloud-foundry-advisory-board-meeting-may-2019-sidecars-and-the-vault-plug-in\/\">sidecars<\/a> and CustomResourceDefinitions (CRDs). The team is also streamlining templates for <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/cloudfoundry\/eirinireleases\/tag\/2.0.0\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Eirini v2.0<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 6px;\">The Networking team is working on more flexible pluggability of ingress routing and network systems around Contour.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 6px;\">The Logging and Metrics team is making progress towards log-cache performance and scalability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><small><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/cloudfoundry\/pmc-notes\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Runtime PMC\u2019s GitHub repo<\/a><\/small><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Stratos\"><\/span>Stratos<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Troy announced the release of <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/cloudfoundry\/stratos\/releases\/tag\/4.3.0\">Stratos v4.3<\/a>. This was inspired by the recent changes in the ecosystem structure around Cloud Foundry. These changes also provided an opportunity to rethink how the technical community operates and revise the documentation to further improve the governance environment for the projects.<\/p>\n<p>The first public meeting regarding the redesign is scheduled on December 4, 2020, at 11 a.m. EST. (Demoed to the community during the CAB meeting in October, this project represents a plugin for CF CLI that integrates data service backups with the SHIELD Cloud.)
