It\u2019s time to see what we have accomplished and what we are heading for in the area of data integration. Good news is that Gartner published a report <i>\u201cPredicts 2011: Master Data Management Is Important in a Tough Economy, and More Important in Growth.\u201d<\/i> Let\u2019s see what kind of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/data-management-longs-for-data-quality-solid-grounds\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">MDM<\/a> predictions for 2011 analyzed by Gartner experts it includes.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itweb.co.za\/content\/Gb3Bw7WNQQAv2k6V\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">interview<\/a>, Gartner\u2019s Research VP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/john-radcliffe-378bb6\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">John Radcliffe<\/a> reveals some of the findings from the report.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1. From 2009 through 2014, MDM software markets will grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 18%, from $1.3 billion to $2.9 billion.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_62925\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/john-radcliffe-research-vp-gartner.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62925\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/john-radcliffe-research-vp-gartner-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-62925\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-62925\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><small>John Radcliffe<\/small><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Data integration and MDM is a fast-growing software market. The growth provides a major business opportunity for software vendors that specialize in these areas. The rapid growth of the market means that skilled MDM resources are in great demand among software and service providers. As a result, end-user organizations will struggle to adequately resource their MDM programs.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>2. By 2015, 10% of packaged data management implementations will be delivered as software as a service in the public cloud.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Data integration software vendors will seek to leverage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/data-integration-issues-moving-legacy-apps-to-the-cloud\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">cloud computing<\/a>. Once organizations gain more experience with the public and private clouds, the early adopters will seek to gain the same benefits with a wider range of software, including packaged MDM solutions.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>3. Through 2015, 66% of organizations that initiate an MDM program will struggle to demonstrate the business value of it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When IT departments initiate data integration projects, they often struggle to get the business on board and to demonstrate the business value of these projects. Getting the proper governance, establishing the right data stewardship roles and responsibilities will be vital to the success of data integration initiatives.
