In particular, he works on increasing the efficiency of the customer\u2019s furnaces.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/james-henrikson-tensorflow-for-manufacturing-and-industrial-internet-of-things-v11.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/james-henrikson-tensorflow-for-manufacturing-and-industrial-internet-of-things-v11-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-31170\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cA furnace is about the size of half this whole room&#8230;And they put sand in, heat it with a bunch of fire, just the hottest place you\u2019ve ever been in the entire world, and out comes glass. It\u2019s really hard to figure out how to measure exactly what\u2019s going on.\u201d \u2014James Henrikson<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>With TensorFlow, James is analyzing <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Computational_fluid_dynamics\" target=\"_blank\">CFD models<\/a> of a glass furnace to enable plant engineers to make informed, real-time process adjustments.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cAt lab, we are also using TensorFlow to train neural networks on the CFD models to create new models to downtake, you know, days or weeks of what we normally do.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2014James Henrikson<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In its turn, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/pradipbn\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pradeep Nagaraju<\/a> of Splunk shared his experience in developing an IIoT-based solution that helps to drive insights from data\u2014gathered across critical industrial systems and assets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/pradeep-nagaraju-tensorflow-for-manufacturing-and-industrial-internet-of-things-v11.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/pradeep-nagaraju-tensorflow-for-manufacturing-and-industrial-internet-of-things-v11-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-31171\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cEssentially, the two biggest challenges are the cost of ownership and real-time actions of using global knowledge. So, that\u2019s what I am focusing on and where I use TensorFlow.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2014Pradeep Nagaraju<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_drives_TensorFlow_adoption\"><\/span>What drives TensorFlow adoption?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The panelists then discussed the reasons for adopting TensorFlow within their organizations and getting projects funded. Pradeep noted that TensorFlow\u2014having an advanced toolkit behind it\u2014\u201cdemocratizes\u201d the way software engineers tackle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altoros.com\/blog\/natural-language-processing-and-tensorflow-implementation-across-industries\/\">different problems<\/a> of different industry domains.<\/p>\n<p>James exemplified how Autodesk applies TensorFlow to build <em>aerodynamic simulations<\/em>. The related issue is that certain data is sometimes labeled as irrelevant, while it is not. The effort is to aid plant engineers in decision making.<\/small><\/p>\n<p><small><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/karthik-kappaganthu-81675010\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Karthik Kappaganthu<\/a> is a Senior Scientist at Johnson Controls International, Tyco Innovation Garage. There, he works on using machine learning to develop new solutions in the area of automation and control. Prior to this, Karthik was at Siemens Corporate Technologies, building research partnerships to develop new technologies in the area of automation.<\/small><\/p>\n<p><small><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/nolbro\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nolan Browne<\/a> is active in the entrepreneurial and venture capital communities, having founded two for-profit internet companies to date.
