    More than 150 people attended the cloud camp hosted by Dave Nielsen<\/a> of Redis Labs, held on Sunday, May 22, in the runup to the Cloud Foundry Summit 2016 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, CA.<\/p>\n

    The healthy crowd was a combination of key contributors to Cloud Foundry and people who are relatively new to the platform but who nevertheless were full of deep, substantial questions.<\/p>\n

    Dave Nielsen<\/small><\/p><\/div>\n

    Dave and Altoros’s engineer Juan Pablo Genovese<\/a> led things with Cloud Foundry and BOSH overview; Juan Pablo outlined his work over the years with the open-source version of Cloud Foundry and how to deploy it in different scenarios with BOSH.<\/p>\n

    Both speakers noted how Cloud Foundry does especially well in a complex, multi-app environment, and that even as more tools, tips, and techniques can be brought to bear, this is still serious enterprise computing.<\/p>\n

    A series of 5-minute talks ensued, with the following topics and speakers:<\/p>\n

    • “PostgreSQL Gets Its Due” by Dr Nic Williams<\/a> of Stark and Wayne<\/li>\n
    • “People, Not Platforms<\/a>” by Dan Young<\/a> of EngineerBetter<\/li>\n
    • “OpenWhisk\u2014Cloud Native, Event Driven, Serverless Micrsoservices Framework” by Animesh Singh<\/a> of IBM<\/li>\n
    • “Building a Highly-Available Redis Cloud Foundry Service,\u201d by Julian Fischer<\/a> of Anynines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      There was then a lot of discussion about OpenWhisk and microservices, as well as the topic of working with databases (such as Redis) with Cloud Foundry.<\/p>\n

      Stormy Peters<\/small><\/p><\/div>\n

      The meeting then formed into several smaller groups, most focused on specific topics about deploying Cloud Foundry and integrating it with other technologies.<\/p>\n

      One of the groups was led by the Foundation’s Stormy Peters<\/a>, who outlined the Cloud Ambassador program and hinted at some important announcements to come at the Summit this week.<\/p>\n
