When the late Steve Goodman said \u201cthis train\u2019s got the disappearing railroad blues\u201d in his great song \u201cCity of New Orleans\u201d a generation ago, he couldn\u2019t have anticipated the resurrection of passenger train travel in these modern times.<\/p>\n

At least that\u2019s the case in the heavily populated and traveled Northeast Corridor of the United States, where Amtrak carries three times more passengers than all the airlines between Washington DC, New York, and Boston.<\/p>\n
